Shanahan not sold on McNabb?

What is taking the Redskins so long in extending Donovan McNabb? Between the lines ... the two sides have had since the first week of June to work out a deal. For myriad reasons, it hasn't happened. If you're McNabb, this reason would pierce the psyche most: Maybe Shanahan is still unsure you're his guy for the long haul. After 11-plus years of establishing yourself as an elite NFL quarterback and taking your team to the NFC championship game five times in the past nine years, you're inexplicably still auditioning for the lead role for a franchise that hasn't been there since the 1991 season. Yankees believe they're underdogs

Alex Rodriguez invoked David and Goliath on Tuesday night, though it may surprise some to learn where he painted the Yankees. "I mean, for us to be David in this situation, I think, is great," Rodriguez said. Yes, Rodriguez was acknowledging that the Yankees are the underdogs in this series. And judging by the playoff seeding, they are. They did not win their division. They do not have home-field advantage. But the Yankees, at 95-67, actually finished a game ahead of the Twins. Arenas preparing exit strategy?

Gilbert Arenas, who after the Wizards preseason win addressed his role in Washington, seems resigned to departing. "Teach John (Wall) the ins and outs of the game and then eventually go on and move on, and I'm on my way," Arenas said. ... Wait a minute. Move on? What does that mean? "I mean, this is the NBA," said Arenas, speaking for eight minutes after the game and for the first time since barely talking to reporters for three minutes at the team's Sept. 27 media day. "There's few players that stay in the same city. Right now, the city is John's. I'm not here to fight anybody. I'm here to just play alongside him. He's Batman and I'm Robin." (FanHouse) Comment
