Monday Night Football returned to Detroit last night for the first time in 10 years, and it was an eventful evening. Fans were fired up (as you can see by the picture above) and were treated to a 73-yard touchdown reception by Calvin Johnson, an 88-yard touchdown run by Jahvid Best and 26 penalties (including an NFL record six false start penalties on the Bears in the first half) in the team's 24-13 win over Chicago. The Lions are 5-0 for the first time since 1956.
If Ever There Was A Time To Be A Homer...
Rangers slugger Nelson Cruz hit a walk-off grand slam yesterday to give Texas a 2-0 lead in its American League Championship Series against Detroit. It was the first walk-off grand slam in postseason history. The game ended 7-3, so if you had under 9 runs (or the Tigers plus a run and a half), my condolences. Anyway, this clip has the call of Joe Buck for FOX followed by the local radio call in Texas and then the local radio call in Detroit. I gotta say, the Rangers radio call is pretty disappointing. It wasn't a walkoff grand slam in the middle of July against the Royals; a little over-the-top hysteria would've been nice.
Now For The Flip Side
While the Rangers announcers didn't go bonkers over Nelson Cruz's walk-off grand slam, legendary Eagles radio announcer Merrill Reese did lose a gasket when defensive lineman Juqua Parker jumped offside to seal Philadelphia's loss against Buffalo on Sunday.

Madden Cover Jinx Strikes Again
There's plenty of season left for Browns running back Peyton Hillis to turn things around, but it's going to take a lot for him to bounce back from this embarrassment. Hillis admitted that when he missed Cleveland's Week 2 game against Miami (because of strep throat), it was at the urging of his agent.

The ref in Saturday's Florida State-Wake Forest game clearly wanted the Demon Deacons to have this first down, but his effort fell short. (Thanks to Tyler, of Tallahassee, Fla., for the video.)
