Kobe ponders retirement

Now leaning into his mid-30s, how many of the hard NBA miles he logs does Kobe Bryant have left?Speaking with CBSSports.com in a quiet moment after practice, Bryant conceded that, in all likelihood, the finish line and the conclusion of his current contract will be one in the same. Bryant has two years left, and though he was careful to point out, "One can never be too sure," he made it clear in the next breath it's almost unfathomable he would play beyond 2013-14, which would be his 18th season. "It's just that three more years seems like a really long time to continue to stay at a high, high level of training and preparation and health," Bryant said. "That's a lot of years. For a guard? That's a lot of years." (CBS Sports) Comment

Tar Heels done recruiting for 2013?

After the top two ranked prospects in the 2013 class Jabari Parker and Julius Randle eliminated the North Carolina Tar Heels from their list, many wondered if UNC would start to look elsewhere and potentially offer other prospects. Indications are that Roy Williams will not offer anymore prospects in the 2013 class and that he is dug in with those he has already offered. (Keeping It Heel) Comment

T.O. tweets Jets: Let's make it happen

As if the Jets don't have enough storylines that write themselves, Terrell Owens remains wide open, and, not surprisingly, willing to work for a team such as Gang Green's. The aging wide receiver who was released by the Seattle Seahawks in the preseason posted his desire to join the Jets on his Twitter account during the Monday night matchup between Houston and New York: "Hey JETS!!! I'm available! I'm ready, willing & able! Call my agent @jordanwoy & let's make it happen." Owens, 38, has 1,078 career catches for 15,934 yards and 153 touchdowns. He last played in the NFL in 2010 for the Cincinnati Bengals, when he caught 72 passes for 983 yards and nine TDs. (Sporting News) Comment
