NCAA Football Power Rankings
21Kansas St. Wildcats
Last Week: --
Bill Snyder didn't need long to make the Wildcats contenders for the Big 12 North title again. Kansas State has been wildly inconsistent, but the Wildcats have won three of their last four. If they can win their next two, they're headed to Arlington to face Texas.
Last game: Beat Kansas, 17-10
Next game: Saturday vs. Missouri
22Stanford Cardinal
Last Week: --
The Cardinal are eligible for their first bowl since 2001, and coach Jim Harbaugh would be a hot commodity if some better jobs were about to open. If Stanford can keep winning, tailback Toby Gerhart may also take his rightful place in the Heisman race.
Last game: Beat Oregon, 51-42
Next game: Saturday at USC
23West Virginia Mountaineers
Last Week: 23
The Mountaineers can make BCS honchos very happy Friday by beating Cincinnati. With the exception of Big East commissioner John Marinatto -- who would love to see one of his teams go undefeated -- the other BCS-conference commissioners would love to see the season end with the only two undefeated big six teams playing one another for the national title. They don't care if TCU and Boise State also are undefeated. So West Virginia can take solace in the fact that it has some powerful fans this week.
Last game: Beat Louisville, 17-9
Next game: Friday at Cincinnati
24Brigham Young Cougars
Last Week: 24
The Cougars find themselves in an unpleasant position this week, as they must root for hated rival Utah to keep their Mountain West Conference title hopes alive. If Utah beats TCU and the Cougars beat the Utes in their season finale, it would force a three-way tie for the title.
Last game: Beat Wyoming, 52-0
Next game: Saturday at New Mexico
25Nebraska Cornhuskers
Last Week: --
The Cornhuskers seemed out of it after their loss to Iowa State, but they jumped back into the Big 12 North race last week by beating Oklahoma. Of the teams in the North, the Cornhuskers probably have the best -- though still admittedly slim -- chance to beat Texas in the Big 12 title game.
Last game: Beat Oklahoma, 10-3
Next game: Saturday at Kansas

Next five: Auburn, Clemson, Oregon State, South Florida, Texas Tech.

Andy Staples' Power Rankings also serve as his ballot in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
