NCAA Football Power Rankings
21Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes
Last Week: 15
The Hurricanes weren't quite ready for primetime this season. The good news? They won't completely implode, and almost everyone comes back next year.
Last game: Lost to North Carolina, 33-24
Next game: Saturday vs. Duke

22Brigham Young Cougars
Last Week: 24
The narrow victory against winless New Mexico could portend a tumble out of the top 25 for the Cougars. They close with Air Force (which only lost to TCU by three) and archrival Utah.
Last game: Beat New Mexico, 24-19
Next game: Saturday vs. Air Force

23Utah Utes
Last Week: 16
Utah Utes (8-2)
The Utes ran into a buzzsaw on Saturday in Fort Worth. Fortunately, the game was on CBS College Sports and hardly anyone saw it. For once, the Mountain West's TV contracts actually benefitted one of its teams.
Last game: Lost to TCU, 55-28
Next game: Saturday vs. San Diego State

24Oregon St. Beavers
Last Week: --
Every year, the Beavers seem to hang around and finish with nine or 10 wins. This year, they can hang around all the way to the Rose Bowl if they win their last two.
Last game: Beat Washington, 48-21
Next game: Saturday at Washington State

25Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Last Week: --
We pretty much wrote off the Scarlet Knights after Cincinnati thrashed them in Week 1. But we didn't then realize how good Cincy would be, or how much Rutgers would improve behind true freshman quarterback Tom Savage, who in eight games has thrown 10 touchdown passes and two interceptions.
Last game: Beat South Florida, 31-0
Next game: Saturday at Syracuse

Next five: Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Arizona, Cal, North Carolina

Andy Staples' Power Rankings also serve as his ballot in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
