Texas in the mix for Wittek

Charlie Strong, fresh off his first signing day in Austin, may have a decent shot at former USC quarterback Max Wittek. [Wittek], who last week told the Trojans he intends to transfer, has multiple options, including Texas, Louisville and Hawaii, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad. Wittek plans to graduate in the spring and has two years of eligibility left. He would be able to play immediately because of an NCAA rule that allows graduates the freedom to transfer without losing a year of eligibility. "I had talked to coach [Steve Sarkisian] a couple of times," Wittek told the Los Angeles Times. ... Wittek was locked in a quarterback competition with Cody Kessler last spring for the right to replace Matt Barkley. That competition eventually spilled into the 2013 regular season. Lillard up for five ASG events

During a time when most of the league takes a break, All-Star guard Damian Lillard may become the hardest working man in game. [Lillard] has accepted the league's invitation to participate in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star Weekend in New Orleans, a league source informed CSNNW.com. ... It doesn't stop there, however. The NBA has broached Lillard with an attractive, unprecedented opportunity. They've asked him to consider the Three-Point Shooting Contest as well, another source relayed to CSNNW.com. So far, the reigning Rookie of the Year is committed to defending his Skills Challenge title; he's competing in the Dunk Contest, the Rising Stars Challenge and the All-Star game. No player in the history of the game has ever competed in all five All-Star Weekend events in the same weekend. (CSNNW.com) Comment

Bennett immune to his brother's call

This offseason, according to Pete Carroll, is not about need for the Seahawks, but there will be decisions -- most notably with Golden Tate and Michael Bennett. "I want to be back here 100 percent. I love the team, I love my teammates," Bennett said. ... "I know we can go back and win a Super Bowl again with all these guys. It's a business, but I definitely want to be back." Martellus Bennett, Michael's brother who is a tight end for the Chicago Bears, has made it known he'd love a family reunion in Chicago, but Michael Bennett said that won't be a big factor in his decision. "That doesn't matter much," he said. "I know he wants me to come out there and get a chance to play with him, but I'm definitely a Seahawk and I definitely want to be here for the rest of my career."
