Time Inc. and Sports Illustrated have partnered with ASN Ltd. to form a sports broadcasting network in Asia.

Sports Illustrated/Sports Illustrated 2 will televise live sporting events and other original content from SI platforms in 12 countries including Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

“This exciting launch speaks to the power of the Sports Illustrated brand and the growing multimedia, multi-platform capabilities that we offer on an international scale,” said president of Time Inc. International Steve Marcopoto. “We are thrilled to be working with our partners at ASN to bring the dynamic Sports Illustrated/Sports Illustrated 2 properties to this growing Asian region.”

The partnership to form Sports Illustrated/Sports Illustrated 2 will also provide web and mobile content for the Hong Kong-based network.

“We see this as an opportunity to establish the Sports Illustrated brand as the destination for sports fans in Asia,” said Thomas Kressner, CEO and Founder of ASN. “Combining Sports Illustrated’s unparalleled access, in-depth reporting and emotional storytelling with a new technical platform from Time Inc., we are now delivering integrated content across TV, web and mobile.”

ASN became Asia’s first 24-hour sports network broadcasting live U.S. sporting events in 2008, and has rights deals with the NFL, NHL, NCAA football and basketball, March Madness and NASCAR.
