Who is the world’s highest paid athlete?

When you factor in salary, bonuses and endorsements, that person is Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Forbes.

The most recent data from June 2016 shows Ronaldo had earned $88 million over the past 12 months.

And guess what? In early November, Ronaldo signed a lifetime deal with Nike that could be worth more than $1 billion. He also signed a new deal with Real Madrid through 2021 that will pay out over $18.4 million annually.

According to Forbes, Ronaldo is the first team sport athlete since Michael Jordan to rank as the world’s highest-paid. When Ronaldo took over the highest spot, it marked the first time since 2000 that Floyd Mayweather Jr. or Tiger Woods didn't top the list.

Coming in behind Ronaldo were Barcelona rival Lionel Messi, Cavaliers star LeBron James, tennis ace Roger Federer and newest Golden State Warrior Kevin Durant.
