The Dallas Mavericks have shifted their attention to signing Houston Rockets restricted free agent Chandler Parsons, USA Today's Sam Amick reports.

It appears the Mavericks have fallen out of the race for Carmelo Anthony after meeting with him last week. After re-acquiring Tyson Chandler from the New York Knicks last month, Dallas has been looking to upgrade the wing position using its cap space.

With forwards Vince Carter, 37, and Shawn Marion, 36, both free agents, Parsons would provide young legs to a veteran group as Dallas tries to make one more run with superstar Dirk Nowitzki, who the team recently signed to a three-year contract extension.

Parsons, 25, averaged career-highs of 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists for the Rockets last season. As a restricted free agent, Houston can match any offer that Parsons signs.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are also reportedly a suitor for Parsons, should they fail in their bid to sign LeBron James.
