Hornets sign Gordon Hayward to maximum offer sheet
The Charlotte Hornets extended an offer sheet to Utah Jazz small forward Gordon Hayward, the team announced Thursday.
Utah has three days to match the offer sheet, as Hayward is a restricted free agent.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, Hayward will receive a four-year deal worth $63 million.
According to Wojnarowski, Hayward, the No. 9 overall pick in the 2010 draft, will receive a player option in the fourth year of the deal and a 15 percent trade kicker.
Hayward averaged 16.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 36.4 minutes last season for the Jazz, who had the Western Conference's worst record at 25-57.
