The Rockets are "seriously pursuing" free agent small forward Trevor Ariza, ESPN.com's Marc Stein reported Saturday afternoon citing sources close to the situation.

Report: Bulls are working to finish agreement with Pau Gasol

Their pursuit of the 29-year-old Ariza means Houston is exploring other options should they decide not to match the three-year, $46 million offer sheet the Mavericks gave swingman Chandler Parsons. The Rockets have until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday to decide whether to match the offer, and Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowskiexpects them to use most of that time.

Ariza, a 10-year veteran of the Knicks, Magic, Lakers, Rockets, Pelicans and Wizards, averaged 14.4 points and a career-high 6.2 rebounds per game last season for Washington, which advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2005 and only the second time since 1982.

The Rockets were pursuing Chris Bosh, who opted to sign a max deal to stay in Miami on Friday, and Luol Deng, who was speaking to the Heat on Friday.
