The Los Angeles Lakers have yet to hire a new head coach for the 2014-15 season, but they appear to be closing in on their man.

According to ESPN Los Angeles, the Lakers are expected to hire a coach in the "next week or two."

There are a handful of potential candidates for the Lakers coaching job. Byron Scott, Mike Dunleavy, Kurt Rambis, Alvin Gentry, Lionel Hollins, and George Karl have all been interviewed.

Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak spoke with the media following the team's Summer League game against the Golden State Warriors, and he confirmed that the team believes they will make a hire by the end of the month.

"Maybe we can wait until September," Kupchak said. "Obviously that's one of the next things that we're going to address, and with putting the roster together and getting through the draft and getting through this last period, a week or two, the next thing we're going to work on is the coach, and I think we're going to have somebody in the next couple weeks."
