The Bulls have been looking for a backup point guard since D.J. Augustin, who scored 14.9 points per game off the bench for Chicago in the role last season, signed with the Detroit Pistons earlier in the week.
Brooks is a scoring PG who played with both the Rockets and Nuggets last season, averaging 9.0 points and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 38.7 percent on three-pointers. The 29-year-old has played with four different teams during his six-year NBA career and is a former first-round draft pick out of Oregon.
Chicago has had a busy offseason of late, signing veteran center Pau Gasol and European forward Nikola Mirotic, re-signing Kirk Hinrich, and drafting Doug McDermott and Cameron Bairstow. They also exercised their amnesty clause on power forward Carlos Boozer to create cap space to sign Gasol and Mirotic. Boozer was claimed off waivers by the Lakers on Thursday.
