The United States men's basketball team will practice at West Point Academy on Aug. 18, the school announced Monday.

The open practice, which will take place at 2 p.m. ET at Christl Arena, will be for military members and their families.

USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo:

"As a beacon of training and commitment, I cannot think of a better place for the team to prepare for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup than the U.S. Military Academy," said Colangelo. "Our players are very excited to meet servicemen and women who also have a strong desire to represent their country."
The school reports that during the morning, players and coaches will tour the U.S. Military Academy and will visit the West Point Cemetery. Before the practice, the team will eat in the school's mess hall with the cadets.
USA Basketball will play two exhibition games at Madison Square Garden Aug. 20 and 22 to prepare for the FIBA World Cup, which will be held Aug. 30-Sept. 14 in Spain.
The USA will play in Group C, with teams from the Dominican Republic, Finland, New Zealand, Turkey and Ukraine.
