USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said the final cuts to Team USA’s basketball rosters could come as soon as Thursday, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.com.

Team USA has an exhibition on Wednesday against the Dominican Republic at Madison Square Garden in New York and cuts could come after the game.

"We've said we wanted to wait through the end of the week in New York before we made cutbacks," Colangelo said. "But that could still change."

The roster currently sits at 16 players and must get down to the mandated 12 players before the team heads to Spain later this month to compete in the FIBA Basketball World Cup. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic berth for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski said that although he has a core group of players that will make the team, nothing has been finalized.

“We haven't picked the team yet," Krzyzewski said. "People read into everything. That's part of the world we live in. That's why we have shows."
