Philadelphia 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie says he never talked to anyone about acquiring second-year forward Anthony Bennett from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Hinkie also said he didn’t speak to the Cleveland Cavaliers about guard Dion Waiters.

“I can tell you unequivocally we didn’t have any conversations about (Bennett),” Hinkie said, according to the The Intelligencer

The 76ers traded forward Thaddeus Young to Minnesota in the same deal that shipped All-Star Kevin Love to Cleveland and rookie Andrew Wiggins, 2013 No. 1 overall pick Bennett and a future first-round pick in exchange to Minnesota.

Philadelphia received forward Luc Richard Mbah A Moute, guard Alexey Shved and a top-10 protected 2015 first-round pick in the deal.

“It’s a move we think moves our program forward. One (thing) that matters is a first-round pick in the ‘15 draft. That’s important,” Hinkie said. “You don’t see a lot of first-rounders trading hands.”
