International teams to play in record nine NBA preseason games

The NBA preseason will feature nine games involving international teams, the league announced Tuesday.

The nine games with international teams are a record for most ever played on North American soil in one preseason.

Three international teams will participate: Maccabi Tel Aviv, Maccabi Haifa, both from Israel, and Brazil's Flamengo.

Big men fuel Team USA's comeback against Turkey

Maccabi Tel Aviv will play the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 5 and the Brooklyn Nets on Oct. 7. Flamengo will play the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 8, the Orlando Magic on Oct. 15 and the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 17.

Maccabi Haifa will play the Washington Wizards on Oct. 15, the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 17, the Sacramento Kings on Oct. 18 and the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 22.

The Cavaliers' David Blatt was head coach at Maccabi Tel Aviv before he was hired by Cleveland for the same position this summer.
