Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried wants to stay in Denver and is negotiating a contract extension, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.

Faried, who is currently starting for Team USA during the FIBA World Cup, will become a restricted free agent next summer if he doesn't sign an extension by the end of October.

The 24-year-old said he was aware of trade rumors last season as Denver was plagued by injuries and missed the playoffs.

Faried is entering the fourth and final year of his rookie contract after being selected No. 22 in the 2011 draft by Denver. He averaged 13.7 points and 8.6 rebounds last season for the Nuggets.
