Warriors beat Clippers 112-94 in preseason opener

LOS ANGELES (AP) Klay Thompson scored 20 points and the Golden State Warriors beat the Los Angeles Clippers 112-94 in the teams' preseason opener on Tuesday night.

David Lee had 13 points and Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Nemanja Nedovic each scored 12. Curry fouled out with 7:18 left in the third quarter on a three-point play by Chris Paul that tied the score at 68.

Blake Griffin had 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Clippers, Paul had 14 points and nine assists, and Jamal Crawford also scored 14 points.

Trailing by eight, the Clippers narrowed the gap to 88-84 on two free throws by Spencer Hawes and a jumper by Griffin with 8:55 to play. But that was as close as they got.

Barnes responded with a 3-pointer from in front of the Clippers' bench and the Warriors closed it out with a 14-2 run during the final 5 1/2 minutes.
