Lakers' Xavier Henry out for season with torn Achilles
Henry was injured during Monday's practice. The team suspected he ruptured his Achilles and ordered an MRI, which confirmed what had been feared.
Henry was averaging 2.2 points in 9.6 minutes per game this season. Last season, Henry averaged a career-high 10 points per game.
Henry is the second Lakers player this year to be lost for the season. Rookie forward Julius Randle fractured his leg in the season opener. Forward Ryan Kelly tore his hamstring last week and will miss six weeks. Guard Nick Young recently returned to action after missing 10 games with a thumb injury. Guard Wayne Ellington returned to the court on Friday after spending 10 days away from the team following the death of his father.
