Detroit Pistons guard Brandon Jennings will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn left Achilles Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Pistons confirmed the news Sunday night.

He sustained the injury while defending an inbounds pass in the third quarter. Jennings appeared to plant his left foot awkwardly while guarding Bucks point guard Brandon Knight. Jennings immediately fell to the ground and writhed in pain.

Jennings remained down as trainers tended to him. He eventually left the court in a wheelchair, exiting with a team-high 16 points and four assists in 26 minutes. The Bucks won 101-86.

Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy told reporters after the game that the initial diagnosis didn't look good for Jennings. The point guard tweeted that he'd be out 6-9 months on Sunday afternoon.

Jennings is in his second season with the Pistons after spending the first four years of his NBA career with the Bucks. He is averaging 19.8 points since the Pistons waived Josh Smith. Detroit, led by Jennings and a resurgent Andre Drummond, won 12 of its last 15 games before Saturday.
