The Dallas Mavericks have suspended point guard Rajon Rondo one game for conduct detrimental to the team, the team announced Wednesday

Rondo was benched on Tuesday night after a heated exchange with head coach Rick Carlisle. The confrontation occurred with about eight minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Devin Harris took over the point guard duties after the exchange and Rondo did not re-enter the game.

"It’s an emotional game and we had a difference of opinion," Carlisle told reporters after the game. "There was an exchange, and then, in my mind, it was over. ... Once it was over, it was over."

Rondo was acquired by Dallas in a trade on Dec. 18 and has started all 25 games he has played in since the trade. He missed six games earlier this month with facial fractures.

Rondo is averaging 9.0 points and 6.2 assists per game for the Mavericks this season.
