Chicago Bulls All-Star forward Pau Gasol will not play in Friday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves because of an undisclosed illness, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The team did not specify what will keep Gasol from playing in the game.

Gasol is averaging 18.4 points, 12.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 55 games in his first season in Chicago. His 38 double-doubles this season lead the NBA.

The team will also be without point guard Derrick Rose, who had surgery on Friday to repair a medial meniscus tear in his right knee. He will be replaced in the lineup by Aaron Brooks.

The Bulls (36-22) are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings, a half-game behind the Cleveland Cavaliers.
