Mike D'Antoni would be interested in the Denver Nuggets' vacant head coaching position, according to a report from Sam Amick of USA Today.

The Nuggets fired Brian Shaw on Tuesday after he led the team to a 56-85 record in fewer than two seasons, including a 20-39 mark this season.

Melvin Hunt was appointed interim coach for the rest of the season.

D'Antoni last coached in the NBA in 2013-14, when he led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 27-55 record.

The 63-year-old has also had stints with the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks and Nuggets, in addition to coaching overseas and with USA Basketball.

A report from Yahoo Sports on Tuesday said that Denver has not started considering long-term candidates for its head coaching position.
