[daily_cut.NBA] New York previously lost 59 games in a season four times, most recently in 2007-08. Last season the Knicks finished 37-45.

In February, the team reached an agreement on a buyout with Amar'e Stoudemire, who was in the final year of a five-year, $99.7 million deal signed in July 2010. Two days later it was announced forward Carmelo Anthony would undergo season-ending surgery on his left knee.

The Knicks set a franchise record with 16 consecutive losses in December and January.
