Memphis Grizzlies forward Jeff Green has picked up his $9.2 million player option for the 2015–16 season, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Green could have opted for free agency, but instead he will return to Memphis for another year.

The Grizzlies acquired Green in a three-team trade with the Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans in January. After averaging 17.6 points and 4.3 rebounds on 43.4% shooting for the Celtics in 2014–15, Green's numbers dipped to 13.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and a 42.7% shooting percentage with Memphis.

The 28-year-old Green was drafted No. 5 by the Celtics in 2007, but was immediately traded to the Seattle SuperSonics. He missed the 2011–12 season after being diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm but returned to play in 81 games for Boston in the 2012–13 season.

Reports: Pelicans guard Eric Gordon opts in final year of contract

The Grizzlies finished 55–27 this year, losing to the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference semifinals.
