Free agency officially began on July 1, and players and teams can officially sign deals now that the league's moratorium period has expired and the salary cap for next season has been set.

Like every off-season, this one is jam-packed with intrigue and storylines. Questions abound: What made DeAndre Jordan change his mind on a verbal agreement with the Mavericks and return to the Clippers? Will J.R. Smith remain in Cleveland? Will the Spurs emerge as title favorites after a series of savvy moves? Will the Knicks return to the playoffs after making a slew of veteran signings?

Rumors

• The Mavericks are still looking to add more help on the interior. They’re interested in center Ryan Hollins, Yahoo’s Marc Spears reports.

• Frank Isola of the New York Daily News says “two coaches and on GM” have told him they would have taken Kristaps Porzingis with the first pick in the draft. 

• Celtics forward Gigi Datome has signed with Turkish club Ferebahce, he announced on Facebook.

• Nets forward Thomas Robinson will undergo surgery to repair a small meniscus tear in his right knee. Robinson downplayed the significance of the injury on Twitter

• The Oklahoma City Thunderhave traded forward Perry Jones to the Boston Celtics for a protected 2018 second-rounder and a trade exception.

• Ty Lawson’s trade value has “cratered” following his second DUI arrest this year on Tuesday, reports Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski. “Few teams” had interest in adding Lawson, Wojnarowski adds.

• The Nuggets have considered waiving Lawson, NBC New York’s Mitch Lawrence reports

• The Celtics and Nuggets have discussed a trade involving Denver forward Danilo Gallinari but no deal is in the works as of now, reports the Boston Herald’s Steve Bulpett.

• The Lakers have reportedly decided not to trade guard Nick Young after the team received no viable trade offers, according to Bill Oram of the Orange-County Register.

• Cavaliers general manager David Griffin says he is hopeful of eventually signing forward Tristan Thompson. Griffin also said he would like to see J.R. Smith and Matthew Dellavedova come back to the team if deals can be worked out.

• The Heat will continue to shop backup guard Mario Chalmers out of a desire to cut their tax bill, reports the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson. Chalmers has a $4.3 million salary for next season.

• Chris Copeland is expected to make his free-agent decision within the next two days, reports the Racine Journal Times’ Gery Woelfel. The Bucks are among four teams on his radar, but have yet to present an offer.

• The Kings and Luc Mbah a Moute are nearing a one-year deal, reports ESPN's Marc Stein. Sacramento is pursuing him after forward Andrea Bargnani spurned the Kings to join Brooklyn.

• Matt Bonner remains unsigned, but the Kings may have interest in the 11-year veteran, reports ESPN’s Marc Stein.

• Deron Williams cleared waivers on Monday, paving the way for him to join the Mavericks, reports Scout's Mike Fisher. Dallas's two-year deal with Williams is expected to be in the $10-12 million range and could be completed as soon as Tuesday, reports ESPN's Marc Stein.

• Veteran Jason Terry is progressing toward a deal to re-sign with the Rockets, reports RealGM's Shams Charania.

• The Nets traded point guard Steve Blake to the Pistons for Quincy Miller, the team announced Monday night. The Nets plan to have Miller on their training camp roster, reports ESPN’s Marc Stein.

• The Washington Wizards and guard Bradley Beal will talk about a new contract extension soon, according to Beal’s agent.

• The Magictraded forward Moe Harkless to the Trail Blazers for a second-round pick.

• The Milwaukee Bucks and center John Henson are nearing an agreement on a contract extension, ESPN’s Marc Stein.

• The New York Knicks and forward Lou Amundson have agreed to a one-year, $1.65 million deal, reports Ian Begley of ESPNNewYork.

​• The Denver Nuggets have signed point guard Jameer Nelson to a three-year, $13.5 million deal, reports ESPN's Marc Stein. The Nuggets have also signed center Nikola Jokic, a 2014 second-round pick, to a four-year, $5.5 million deal, according to Stein.

JaVale McGee to the rescue? After losing DeAndre Jordan, the Mavericks have entered into contract discussions with the lanky big man, reports RealGM's Shams Charania.

• The Raptors have hired former Bulls assistant coach Andy Greer to join head coach Dwane Casey’s staff, Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

• Free-agent center Kevin Seraphin may be finding a home soon. The Lakers, Mavericks and Wizards are interesting in signing him, reports Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears.
