The Los Angeles Clippers are signing forward-center Chuck Hayes to a one-year deal, reports Yahoo's Marc J. Spears.

Hayes had agreed to a partially guaranteed veteran minimum contract with the Houston Rockets in July, but announced last week he would not sign the deal due to salary cap issues for the Rockets.

The Clippers have now rehauled a bench that sorely lacked depth last season. In addition to Hayes, the Clippers have added Josh Smith, Lance Stephenson, Paul Pierce and Wesley Johnson. Los Angeles lost to the Houston in the second round of the NBA playoffs despite holding a 3–1 series lead.

Hayes began his NBA career with the Rockets in 2006. The 6'6" Hayes started 82 games at center for Houston in place of an injured Yao Ming in 2009–10. He played in just 29 games for the Raptors last season.

In his career, Hayes has averaged 3.7 points and five rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game.
