We're just five weeks away from the start of the 2015-16 NBA season, but there's already plenty of intrigue and storylines in the league. The start of training camp is just days away, and several teams are already negotiating with players ahead of the Oct. 31 rookie extension deadline.

Sept. 22

• Golden State Warriors small forward Harrison Barnesrejected a four-year, $64 million extension, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. The offer was just initial, and negotiations are expected to continue. 

• The Cleveland Cavaliers and Tristan Thompson are $14 million apart in contract extension talks, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports.

• Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings looks like a trade candidate this season, writes David Mayo of MLive.com.

• The Minnesota Timberwolves are moving towards a buyout with forward Anthony Bennett, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

• The Cavaliers expect Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Anderson Varejao, and TimofeyMozgov to all be ready for the start of training camp, The Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports.

• The San Antonio Spurs are bringing back former Orlando Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn to a player-personnel role, RealGM reports. Vaughn was an assistant coach with the Spurs prior to taking the Magic head coaching job.
