The NBA preseason comes to a close Friday as teams gear up for the start of the regular season on Tuesday. With just four days to go, teams are ramping up their preparations for the long haul ahead.

• Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose will play in his first preseason game on Friday, head coach Fred Hoiberg said Friday afternoon. Rose is recovering from a fractured orbital bone under his left eye.

• The Bulls plan to start Nikola Mirotic over Joakim Noah, at least for opening night, reports Sam Smith of NBA.com.

Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will have a new role on the team, reports Mark Lambert-Stokes of Reuters. Byrant plans to spend more time off the ball this season.

• Golden State Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton said the team is “hopeful” head coach Steve Kerr will return to the team for their season opener, reports CSN Bay Area’s Monte Poole.

• Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt tried to temper the Cavs’ expectations for the season, saying being preseason title favorites “doesn't mean much,” reports ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

• Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson suffered a shoulder injury in Thursday night's preseason loss to the Warriors, reports ESPN’s Baxter Holmes. The injury could cause him to miss the team’s season opener.
