Phoenix Suns guard Brandon Knight underwent surgery for a sports hernia on Thursday, reports Paul Coro of The Arizona Republic.

Knight missed time from Jan. 21 through March 9 with what was originally ruled a groin strain. He returned for 10 games before re-injuring himself on March 30.

The Suns acquired Knight last February in a deadline deal with the Milwaukee Bucks. This is the second straight year Knight’s season has ended with surgery, with the guard having undergone an ankle operation last April.

Knight has four seasons remaining on a five-year, $70 million contract. In 52 games this season, Knight averaged 19.6 points and 5.1 assists per game.
