The ties among NBA teams with identical records at the end of the 2015–16 regular season were broken on Friday through a random drawing that helped finalize the order for the NBA draft on June 23.

As a result, the Sacramento Kings finished the year with a 33–49 record and won a tiebreaker with the Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks. The Dallas Mavericks tied with Memphis with a 42–40 record before the tiebreaker was awarded to the Mavericks. The Detroit Pistons (44–38) won their respective tiebreaker with the Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat. Charlotte took the next drawing over Boston and Miami. The Celtics took the final tiebreaker over the Heat.
