NBA says five calls were missed on final play of Spurs-Thunder

In its ‘Last Two Minute’ officiating report on Tuesday, the NBA said officials missed five foul calls during the final sequence of Monday’s Spurs–Thunder Game 2.

In its “Last Two Minute officiating report on Tuesday, the NBA said officials missed a total of five calls during the final sequence of Monday’s Spurs–Thunder Game 2.

With the Thunder ahead, 98–97, and 13.5 seconds remaining, Dion Waiters reached across the boundary to made contact with Manu Ginobili before he inbounded the ball.

The NBA said officials missed Ginobili stepping on the sideline, and they missed Waiters’ contact with Ginobili. In addition, the league said that Spurs guard Patty Mills held Steven Adams and Kawhi Leonard held Russell Westbrook’s jersey during the inbounds play.

After a fight for the ball, the Spurs gained possession but failed to score on the other end as time expired.

The league also said that officials should have called a shooting foul on Oklahoma City’s Serge Ibaka with 2.6 seconds remaining for “grabbing and holding” LaMarcus Aldridge. This would have given Aldridge a chance to put San Antonio ahead late at the line.

The games’s referees quickly admitted error after the game.
