The Memphis Grizzlies have reached a deal with Miami Heat assistant coach David Fizdale to make him their new head coach, the team confirmed Sunday.

The terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, however, Adrian Wojnarowski reports that it will be four years in length.

Spurs assistant James Borrego was the other finalist for the job.

Fizdale, 41, will replace Dave Joerger, who was fired earlier this month and took a job with the Sacramento Kings

Fizdale has been an assistant with the Heat under Erik Spoelstra since 2008 and was part of the team’s 2012 and 2013 championship runs. He previously worked for the Hawks and the Warriors at the NBA level. He began his career as an assistant at San Diego, where he played college basketball.

The Grizzlies reportedly targeted Frank Vogel before he took the head coaching job in Orlando. Fizdale had also been linked to the Rockets’ open head coach position.
