Free agent guard DeMar DeRozan is focused on re-signing with the Toronto Raptors, and hasn’t scheduled meetings with any other teams, ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reports.
DeRozan, 26, has spent his entire seven-career in Toronto. The two-time All-Star averaged 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in 2015–16, and opted out of his contract at year’s end.
“My mind-set has always been Toronto,” DeRozan said during his exit interview. “I’ve always preached it. I was passionate about it when we were losing. When we were terrible I’d say ‘I’m going to stick through this whole thing and I want to be that guy who brings the organization to where it is now.’ I definitely don’t want to switch up after we win.”
He will reportedly be heading to Rio this summer to compete for the United States in the Olympics.
NBA teams can begin to sign players when free agency begins on July 1.
