Welcome to free agency. At 12:01 a.m. Friday, negotiations between teams and players officially began.
The biggest question, of course, is where Kevin Durant wants to sign. His decision will have ripple effects as the market sets, with a record-high salary cap enabling teams around the league to spend aggressively. Durant has been courted by the Warriors, Spurs, Celtics and Heat in addition to the Thunder, who remain hopeful they can keep their superstar in place.
There’s new scuttle involving Dwyane Wade possibly leaving Miami, with Hassan Whiteside inking a massive deal. Bismack Biyombo and Dwight Howard are also off the board. Al Horford is heading to Boston, and Mike Conley, the top free-agent point guard, is back with Memphis. Lots of money is flying around fast.
