Report: LeBron James will re-sign with Cavaliers

LeBron James has informed the Cleveland Cavaliers re-sign with the team, reports ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
Although James is the last high-profile free agent to commit to a new contract, his staying put comes as no surprise, especially following the Cavs’ Finals win.
According to Windhorst, James is in “no rush” to actually sign his deal, and is mulling several options. He could choose to sign a one-year deal, like he has done the past two seasons, or sign a multi-year contract.
After James’s reported commitment, the Cavaliers now have two unsigned members of last year’s championship team: shooting guard J.R. Smith and coach Tyronn Lue.
On June 30, James opted out of the final year of the contract he signed last summer. He told reporters at the Cavaliers’ championship parade he planned to re-sign, but waited an extended period of time to put pen to paper, likely so that the Cavs could sort out their other roster moves first. Cleveland has mostly kept its core intact this off-season, with only Matthew Dellavedova and Timofey Mozgov the only notables to change teams.
The Cavs are still expected to re-sign Smith, with whom James shares an agent, Rich Paul.

James, 31, has played on a series of one-plus-one deals since returning to the Cavaliers in 2014. After leading them to the Finals in 2015 and falling to the Warriors, James and the Cavs rolled back through the playoffs and became the first team to ever come back from down 3–1 in a Finals, this time toppling a historically successful Golden State team for the championship.
