The Boston Celtics have signed veteran small forward Gerald Green to a one-year deal, according toSporting News.

The financial terms of the deal have not yet been reported.

Green returns to the team with which he started his career, after he was picked by Boston with the No. 18 pick in the 2005 draft.

The 30-year-old has played with eight different teams over his career, and has never spent more than two seasons with one franchise.

Green had two of his best seasons with the Phoenix Suns from 2013–15, averaging 15.8 points and 11.9 points over that stretch.

He played in 69 games, including 14 starts, for the Miami Heat last season, averaging 8.9 points and 2.4 rebounds on 22.6 minutes per game.

Green could eventually be used as a trade piece, with Sporting News reporting that the Celtics are still active on the trade market.
