Duke gets Williams

Elliot Williams, who's rated the nation's No. 16 senior boys' basketball recruit by RISE, committed to Duke last night.

The All-State selection averaged 23 points and six rebounds per game at St. George's (Collierville, Tenn.) last year as his squad advanced to the state championship game.

"When it was all said and done, it was Duke that offered the most things they were looking for," St. George's coach Jeff Ruffin told The Commercial Appeal.

Williams is an explosive lefty who loves getting to the basket but can also hit from the perimeter. He chose the Blue Devils over Virginia, Memphis and Tennessee.

With Williams' decision, only two seniors remain uncommitted in RISE's top 20 ? No. 3 Tyreke Evans of American Christian (Aston, Pa.) and No. 18 Tyler Zeller of Washington (Ind.). No. 6 John Riek of The Winchendon (Mass.) School is also undecided but as a post-grad, there's a good chance he will enter the NBA Draft rather than go to college.
