Celtics' Kevin Garnett gives cold shoulder to Ray Allen during Heat debut

*****

By Ben Golliver

Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett blew off former teammate Ray Allen as he checked in to make his debut for the rival Miami Heat at American Airlines Arena on Tuesday night. Allen went up and down the Celtics bench to offer handshakes during the nationally-televised regular season opener. He then slapped Garnett on the shoulder, who reacted as if Allen was invisible.

Allen left the Celtics, where he was a member of the 2008 title team, to sign with the 2012 champions in July. Garnett told reporters at Media Day that, as a result, he no longer had Allen’s number and that he was “not trying to communicate” with his former teammate. Here, he proved to be a man of his word.
