We've covered Yao Ming's retirement in detail here at The Point Forward, but we just had to bring attention to his latest exploit: fermented grapes.

Yao Family Wines, a Napa Valley-based company founded by the former Houston Rockets star, announced Thursday that it is entering the U.S. vino market after an initial launch in mainland China. The company's website describes the Yao Ming Cabernet Sauvignon as a wine that "will age gracefully, and can be enjoyed for many years to come." Sounds just like Yao himself.

Life after the NBA takes many forms for players (some head to coaching, others open restaurants, several file for bankruptcy), but few have entered the vineyard business. Here's hoping this opens a new avenue for players after they leave the game. Who wouldn't drink a "Kobe Noir" or a "Zeke Zinfandel" or even a "Sauvignon Blake Griffin"?
