Sixers' Turner hits OT game-winner to beat Celtics
By Ben Golliver
After committing a turnover on Philadelphia's final possesion in regulation, Turner nailed a game-winner on the Sixers' final possession of overtime to deliver a 95-94 win at the Wells Fargo Center.
Both teams were a little frenetic late in this one. Turner's turnover came on an inbounds play with less than five seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and the score tied at 89. Stuck in the corner after the Celtics applied a double-team, he threw a cross-court pass over the top of the defense that was easily intercepted by Rajon Rondo. After Rondo missed a pull-up jumper at the buzzer, the Sixers lived to play five more minutes.
As overtime came to a close, Turner had a chance for redemption after Celtics guard Courtney Lee airballed a corner three with 25 seconds remaining that would have given Boston a two-possession lead. Turner brought the ball upcourt, milking the clock, before creating a free-throw line extended jumper over Lee off the dribble. Help defense from Rondo didn't make a difference, as Turner swished home the 15-footer to give Philadelphia a 95-94 lead with less than four seconds remaining. Rondo then missed a jumper at the overtime buzzer.Philadelphia improved to 11-8 on the season with the win. Turner finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, one block and four turnovers in 45 minutes. He shot 10-for-26 from the field.
