Just what the Wizards needed: another injured point guard.

The Washington Post reports that A.J. Price, the stand-in starter for the injured John Wall, has suffered a broken right hand that will sideline him for at least one month.

Price was well aware that his hand was broken, and that the injury would keep him sidelined for four-to-six weeks, but that wasn’t the point.

“It was important in my eyes to let the guys know my morale wasn’t down,” Price said. “Even though I was injured and I’ll be out, I’m still with them 100 percent – as I know they would be for me if the shoe was on the other foot.”

...

“It’s been all I can ask for. I have, Coach [Randy] Wittman has given me every opportunity to come out here and prove myself and show what I can do. So I’m grateful for that,” Price said. “It’s very difficult right now, but I’m okay. I bounce back. It’s not a season ending or anything like that. So I have to keep my head high and I have a chance to be back.”

If Price is sidelined four weeks, he will miss Washington's next 15 games. If he's out six weeks, he will miss 21 games.

Where the 2-15 Wizards go from here is anybody's guess. Washington has a full 15-man roster and Shaun Livingston is the last healthy point guard among the 15. None of Washington's available two-guards, Bradley Beal, Jordan Crawford or Martell Webster, fit the mold of a true distributing combo guard. Livingston, who has been averaging 18 minutes per game, will surely see his playing time ratchet up. Pat that, it could get frightening watching Randy Wittman juggle his backcourt rotation until Wall's return. To make matters worse, USA Today Sports reported on Friday that there is still no timetable for Wall, who is sidelined with a stress injury in his left patella.

Price, 26, has averaged 8.5 points, 4.9 assists and 2.8 rebounds for the Wizards this season.
