The Hornets will sign journeyman forward Dominic McGuire, according to reports by ESPN.com and the Times-Picayune.

Contract terms between the Hornets and McGuire are not yet known, but New Orleans has two open roster spots and won't need to make any further moves to accommodate his addition.

McGuire, 27, was released by the Raptors in November to create a roster spot so that free agent forward Mickael Pietrus could be signed.

The Hornets are 5-17 and currently hold the worst record in the Western Conference. During a Friday loss to the Timberwolves, coach Monty Williams essentially played a seven-man rotation, while giving 10 minutes or less to three young wings: Darius Miller, Lance Thomas and Xavier Henry. McGuire will represent a more experienced alternative for Williams and should provide some depth for a team that has already dealt with injuries to Eric Gordon, Anthony Davis and Jason Smith, and which traded forward Hakim Warrick to the Bobcats earlier this season. New Orleans acquired guard Matt Carroll in the Warrick trade but subsequently bought him out.

McGuire holds career averages of 2.8 points and 3.4 rebounds over a six-year career with five teams. A second-round pick in 2007, McGuire has played for the Wizards, Kings, Bobcats and Raptors before landing in Toronto as a free agent to start the 2012-13 season.
