This one might not quite crack the "Dunk of the Year" conversation but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable.
Taj Gibson put a major exclamation point on Chicago's 97-58 blowout victory over Atlanta at the United Center on Monday, throwing down a massive one-hand poster dunk on Anthony Tolliver.
With a little more than seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and the Bulls leading 77-47, Gibson collected a shovel pass from Jimmy Butler and rose up for a right-handed cockback dunk over Tolliver.
The Bulls broadcasters, already a little loose given the scoring margin, opened up the trash talk immediately after Gibson's slam: "Does anybody know how to post videos to Facebook? Oh my goodness, Taj Gibson just friend requested him! Www.MyFace.com."
Gibson finished with eight points and seven rebounds for the Bulls, who were led by Carlos Boozer, who finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and one block. The Hawks were led by reserve forward Mike Scott, who was their only player to crack double figures with 10 points. Atlanta shot 24-for-82 on the night, including two-for-14 from deep, barely topping their franchise low of 57 points. Remarkably, the Hawks managed just 20 first half points, including a five-point second quarter.
This year's Dunk of the Year contestants include Gerald Henderson on Dwight Howard, Byron Mullens over LaMarcus Aldridge, Jeff Green over Al Jefferson and Harrison Barnes over Nikola Pekovic.
Check out Gibson's massive two-handed poster over Dwyane Wade in the 2011 playoffs. Always worth another look.
