DeMar DeRozan's buzzer-beater lifts Raptors past Magic

*****

By Ben Golliver

Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan hit a buzzer-beater to defeat the Magic 97-95 at the Amway Center in Orlando on Thursday night.

With 4.3 seconds remaining and the game tied at 95, Alan Anderson inbounded the ball from the right sideline to Jose Calderon, who in turn swung the ball to DeRozan as he raced off a high screen towards the open left side of the court. Seeing the play develop, both Arron Afflalo and Glen Davis tracked DeRozan into the left corner, where he was launched an off-balance, step-back, fade-away jumper over Davis with one second remaining on the clock. The try swished through perfectly just after the buzzer sounded, giving the Raptors a dramatic road win.

The National Post noted that DeRozan's basket was the first buzzer-beater for the Raptors in more than six years.

DeRozan finished with a game-high 22 points, seven assists and four rebounds on 10-for-17 shooting in 43 minutes. Nikola Vucevic led the way for the Magic with a team-high 19 points and 14 rebounds.

With the win, Toronto improved to 16-27. With the loss, Orlando fell to 14-28.
