Magic guard Arron Afflalo will miss the rest of the 2012-13 season with a hamstring injury.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic officials confirmed that Afflalo suffered a right hamstring strain during a 97-89 loss to the Thunder in Orlando. Afflalo left the game after scoring six points and grabbing three rebounds in just 13 minutes.

Afflalo has been diagnosed with a strained hamstring, and team officials plan to treat the injury with rest and physical therapy.

Afflalo's absence will force coach Jacque Vaughn to give additional time to backup guard Beno Udrih and also to youngsters E'Twaun Moore, DeQuan Jones and Doron Lamb.

The sixth-year guard was acquired from the Nuggets as part of the four-team blockbuster trade that sent Dwight Howard to the Lakers last summer. Afflalo, 27, finishes the season averaging a career-high and team-leading 16.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists. He shot 43.9 percent from the field and started 64 games for the Magic.

Orlando holds an 18-52 record on the season and is currently one of two teams with a chance to finish with the NBA's worst record. With 12 games remaining, the Magic are two wins up on the Bobcats, who would receive the most 2013 lottery ping pong balls if the season ended today. It's possible that Afflalo's absence could help the Magic, who have lost six straight and are 4-28 since Jan. 18, catch the Bobcats and reach the basement. Charlotte has won three of its last five games after losing 18 straight games in November and December and 10 straight games in February and March.

Magic forward Glen Davis was lost for the season earlier this year with a foot injury. Hedo Turkoglu is also currently serving a 20-game suspension for violating the NBA's anti-drug program.
