Video: Grizzlies' Mike Conley hits last-second game-winner to beat Spurs
By Ben Golliver
With 6.2 seconds remaining and the score tied at 90, Conley received the ball and went to work on Danny Green, shaking him with a between-the-legs dribble and creating the necessary daylight to drive hard to the hoop. Although he never quite turned the corner, Conley got enough of a step to lean in and loft a lefty banker over Green's contesting effort. The basket went in with 0.6 seconds left and Spurs guard Tony Parker came up empty on the other end.
Conley finished with a team-high 23 points (on 11-for-17 shooting), three rebounds and two assists in 36 minutes. He scored five points in the game's final 30 seconds to deliver the home win. Marc Gasol added 16 points (on six-for-14 shooting), seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block for Memphis, who won its third straight game.
The Spurs lost a game in the closing seconds for the second consecutive night. On Sunday, Miami's Chris Bosh hit a game-winning three-pointer in the closing seconds to defeat San Antonio. The Spurs have also beaten the Clippers on a Tim Duncan game-winner and lost to the Rockets on a James Harden game-winner over the last week. Memphis, the Western Conference's No. 5 seed, improved to 50-24 with the win. San Antonio, the West's No. 1 seed, dropped to 55-19.
