Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried had to be helped off the court after suffering a sprained left ankle during a Sunday afternoon game against the Blazers.
The injury occurred less than three minutes into the first quarter when Faried attacked the center of Portland's defense, only to roll his left ankle by stepping on Will Barton's right foot. Denver immediately called timeout and Faried was carried to the locker room by his teammates. The second-year forward, who earned Western Conference Player of the Week honors earlier this season, departed with zero points and zero assists in three minutes.
The Nuggets announced that an X-ray of Faried's ankle was negative and that he will be listed as day-to-day.
Earlier this month, Denver lost forward Danilo Gallinari to a season-ending knee injury. Point guard Ty Lawson has also missed eight of Denver's last 11 games with a foot injury.
The Nuggets entered Sunday's action as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference with a record of 54-25. The 2013 playoffs are set to start next weekend and Denver will wrap up its regular season with games at Milwaukee on Monday and in Denver against the Suns on Wednesday.
Faried, 23, holds season averages of 11.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. He has appeared in all 80 games for the Nuggets this season.
