Warriors' David Lee (hip) leaves Game 1 against Nuggets

David Lee was forced from action during Game 1 of a Western Conference first-round playoff series between the Warriors and Nuggets with a right leg injury.

The Warriors announced during the fourth quarter that Lee suffered a "probable right hip flexor strain" and would not return to the game. Lee underwent X-rays on Saturday, which were negative, and will receive an MRI on Sunday.

Lee appeared to suffer the injury on a drive to the hoop that ended with him absorbing contact from JaVale McGee and falling awkwardly to the court early in the fourth quarter. After attempting his free throws, Lee doubled over in pain and immediately departed the court, favoring his right hip area.

Lee, 29, averaged 18.5 points and 11.2 rebounds per game this season, making him Golden State's second-leading scorer and leading rebounder. He was selected to his second  All-Star Game this season.

Golden State, the Western Conference's No. 6 seed, is facing Denver, the No. 3 seed, in their first playoff series appearance since 2007.
